BUDDY DIVERS NEWSLETTERwww.skiptondivers.co.ukDue to the severe weather the last meeting was cancelled, so there is not much to tell you about, that is not weather related!
Final Dives of 2010 - Have we all finished for the winter now the snow is here?
Christmas 2010 - Saturday 4th Dec Bowling and Curry– A cracking night was had by all who attended, again this was affected by weather, but a few hardy souls managed to get to Keighley for the bowling and then on to Azeems for a curry.
In the bowling, after playing a blinding game on behalf of Stu, (Mike playing for Stu was beating Mike playing for Mike at one point) Mike did eventually win the bowling but was ruled out of the prize as he did the scoring as well! Some thing fishy going on there! So honours go to Stu and the wooden spoon for finishing last, but trying very hard, went to Bev.

AGM and Committee election the AGM will be at the January meeting on 6th Jan 2011.
Please put this date in your diary and we will need any questions or queries you want to put to the committee. You can send me a personal message or email with these. We will also need to elect the officials of the club, Treasurer, Secretary and Chairman, plus 2 general members. If anybody would like to stand for the committee we will now have to seek nominations at the January meeting.
Red Sea 2011 – Oh yes!!! Adz is organising a trip for 16th – 23rd Sept 2011. This will be on one of the Blue O2 fleet from Hurgarda (flight from Manchester. ) doing Brothers, Elphinstone and Daedalus. Adz has 6 people already booked from his dive school cost is £1149 and if anyone is interested please speak to Adz re details and costs or send him a PM or email.
Trips for 2011 – we will be looking to organise the club boat trips for next year soon, so please let us know where you would like to go and when, If you have shift days you have to work around if you let us know we will try and accommodate you as much as possible. Don’t forget we will be joining with Pennine Divers on some trips, so that we can go to some of the areas we haven’t been for a while because we couldn’t fill the whole boat.
I have put a poll and ideas on the Forum, please vote for your favourite FOUR short boat trips. The ones that get the most votes we will book. Favourites so far are Farnes, Oban, St Abbs and Ullapool and unless we get any last minute voting these are the four we will go for.
As we said we will be looking to fill a boat with the help of Pennine Divers. After a quick discussion at the end of the last meeting, we would both normally do the same trips, Farnes, St Abbs etc. However they are looking at a long weekend trip to Malta, there is a post in Local and Short trips about this on the Forum. Low cost flight, cheap accommodation and shore diving at a cost of around about £120. I will add this to the trip list as an extra, so please indicate if you think you might like to go, so we can discuss at the joint planning meeting.
Into 2012!! Get saving, the trip for 2012 we are looking at going to the Red Sea in May or June, as the dive guides say this is the time to go to see the larger fishes and also a different set of fish to the ones we normally see in the autumn. JT will be organising and he said he would prefer to do Brothers and Elphinstone. Please put this in your diaries.
Tanks – Club tanks - Please contact JT if you want to borrow them. Prompt return please once you have finished with them. Please speak to Craig if the JT’s are not available.
First Aid Kit & O2 please TELL US if you have use anything so that we can replace it. As we said before the First Aid and O2 must be returned to JT after each trip please.
Forum Highlights – Don’t forget to post some of your pictures or short video clips onto the media page on the forum. Please add any photos from your trips.
Please say hello to the new divers on the Forum. There have been several recently and hopefully they will be able to come to the meeting, be gentle with them.
Please tell everyone if and when you are planning a trip, someone may want a buddy and would like to join you. There are lots of mid week divers now, so just ask.
