BUDDY DIVERS NEWSLETTERwww.skiptondivers.co.ukWelcome to the last meeting to Tracey (aka Mittens), who came to see if she wanted to join the club, thought we were all quite crackers but had a good laugh anyway. Anybody heard from her?

or did we scare her off??? Thanks to everyone who attended, we had quite a crowd, but apologies came from Andrew L for this meeting and the August meeting.
Anyway apologies for the delay to the newsletter this month, but Mike and I have just returned from a jolly holiday in the Outer Hebrides. Anyone who has not been should give it a try, the water is as clear as a bell and the beaches are pure white sand and with nobody on them. Did a dive at Bholtas, off a small jetty, just go down the stairs into the water, lovely rocky outcrops, warmish clear blue water. Not a vast amount of life, some nice jelly fish with colonies of fish living in the tentacles, hundreds of crabs and some nice flat fish. We will put a few snaps on the Forum if anybody wants a look, is it worth a club trip anybody?? Its only about 1500 mile roundtrip.
Farnes – 6th and 7th August trip with William Sheil to see the seals (hopefully) as last year. Please book your own accommodation soon as the available B & B places are going fast. Cost is £40 per day for two dives. We have now booked 14 places there is a proper list on the Forum to say who’s going, last count it was JT x 2, Andrew, Mick, Nigel, Dan, Simon, Graham, Kaz and Mike Simon M, Naomi, Simon M’s mate and Paul. Meet on the harbour for 8.15am on Saturday morning unless you hear otherwise. Any problems call Karen or Mike on their mobiles, you have the numbers!
BBQ at Devils Bridge – Mick (Diver 2292) has suggested a BBQ at Devils Bridge with a dive involved somewhere along the way, maybe dusk, maybe night dive. We used to do this trip ages ago so it should be great night and not too far away. I think he was looking at Friday night. Mick is going to put full details on the Forum, so keep your eyes peeled for this.
Sijimon also put forward the idea of a South Wales/Pembroke trip. The club has done this trip before a long time ago and it’s a good one, loads of life. He needs a minimum of 8 for a RIB trip if anybody fancies it as we don’t have anything else planned for this year so far.
Would anybody like the club to organise another trip this year? We did say we would organise one about Oct/Nov but at the beginning of the year there were no takers, anybody changed their mind? An Oban trip? Another Farnes or St Abbs trip or Pembroke as suggested above
We also had some questions come up at the meeting. Nick has asked that if anybody has any problems with the Forum to send him a message or a post on the shoutbox and he will try and respond asap. If you cannot log on to the Forum, then just let another club member know, and we will send a message to Nick on your behalf. Nick would also like any positive comments you have about the new look.
Karen A put forward the idea of having a lower priced social membership, so we will put this forward to be voted on at the AGM in January. Does anybody just fancy a social trip somewhere camping, eating walking and drinking?
We have heard a rumour that one of the reservoirs at Baildon is to become a dive centre. Anyone else heard this?? It would be good as its only 5 mins from my house.
Bev has now almost recovered from the broken toe she sustained at St Abbs when Mike’s tank fell on her foot. Apologies to Bev from Mike.
Anybody looking for buddies please check the forum regularly for requests. Don’t forget to post some of your pictures or short video clips onto the media page on the forum. Please add any photos from your trips and a few details of what you got up to.
New membership list – after the flurry of new divers joining the club, I have completed a new membership list and this can be collected from me at any meeting. This will not be published on the Forum.
Facebook and Twitter – Nick tells me that we are now available on these formats to keep up with the growing trend.
The next meeting is on Thursday 4th August at the Cross Keys Hope to see you there..
