Great North Run for the RNLI
« on: March 08, 2011, 08:18:11 PM »
I am doing the great north run this year in aid of the RNLI - definitely a worthwhile cause for divers :)

If you can spare anything, no matter how small, and feel inclined you can donate at the following URL:

Thanks.

Good luck Sijomon
Cheers

An American tourist asks:
"Why do Scuba divers always fall backwards off their boats?"

To which the diver replies:
"If we fell forwards we'd still be in the fuckin’ boat."

It was the Great North Run yesterday and I thought I'd let you all know how I got on on.

First off, thanks to those that sponsored me, I managed to raise over my target of £300, so I'm very happy about that. The RNLI  had about 450 runners, and they expect to raise around £150,000, so a really very successful day from their perspective.

The weather was almost perfect, nice and cool, and not too bright, with a little splash of rain just as I was finishing; couldn't have planned it better really. The race was brilliant, a really amazing atmosphere.  54,000 runners, plus several hundred thousand spectators, and supporters - just fantastic.

I came in at 1:47 - a little longer than my PB, but as Jo keeps reminding me I was on crutches 6 weeks ago so that's my excuse ;)
