1. go to the page within BSAC that you want us to see
2. drag your mouse holding down the left button, along the long address in the top address bar of your browser
3. press [both together[ (CTRL + C) and this will copy the long address that is now blue, now release ctrl+c
3. go back into the forum and paste (CTRL + V) into your message
4. voila!!

An American tourist asks:
"Why do Scuba divers always fall backwards off their boats?"

To which the diver replies:
"If we fell forwards we'd still be in the fuckin’ boat."

Helpfully this forum will automatically turn any such website address (formally called a URL) into a clickable link, like this:

http://www.bsacforum.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=166492#post166492

but what looks better, in my opinion, in to embed the link into normal prose. e.g. If you wanted the words 'forum post' in the sentence;

Code: [Select]
There is an Isle of Man forum post forum post you should all look at
to become a link to the above forum post then you would enter the following:

Code: [Select]
There is an Isle of Man [url=http://www.bsacforum.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=166492#post166492]forum post[/url] you should all look at
See how the word you want linked are 'wrapped' inside the 'mark-up' [ url=THE ADDRESS][ /url]

The above would render in the forum as:

Quote
There is an Isle of Man forum post you should all look at

Hi
Using BB code is a far cry from someone asking how to copy and paste a link to a site.
crawl > walk > run comes to mind.

You can already use the 'insert hyperlink' button - but then of course you need to edit it as you kindly point out for it to have text as the link rather than the url.

** edited to say : yes, the link looks better embedded in a sentence, thats for sure**

Cheers

As a side note......... the new forum software - Wedge, (going to trial it when its ready), already has a nifty 'pop up' that asks you for the details of the hyperlink and text you want to insert - as per Sijomons post .............and it does it all for you.
How cool is that??
